- visiting a brick-and-mortar establishment, which by the mere presence one feels uplifted, comfortable, and inspired
- a generous act of taking time for self to physically go to a specific location
- should be a pleasure, not rushed--and especially not squeezed in between two other time sensitive appointments
- plan for it well in advance and write it (or type it) in your planner in ink
- allow time to linger
- ideally done alone or with like minded best pal
Practices
- become familiar with local gift shops in your neighborhood
- establish a comfortable relationship with the proprietor, allowing her/him to get to know your taste to point you quickly in the right direction
- acknowledge your favorite shops by thanking the proprieter, referring friends and acquaintainces and using them in your business where appropriate
- use your time in the shop to see and experience items new to you
- be open to new shops to explore
